The Chainlink

I have just jumped into the smartphone world and would like some feed back on some cycling apps. I have a Blackberry Bold and have installed GreatTrainer and miCoach on it. I haven't been able to use these because they are searching for a GPS signal. I really don't feel like waiting 15 min for my device to (maybe) find a gps signal. Does anyone else have these problems? I have checked my settings and my GPS is on. What is the best app that anyone uses on their Black Berry for cycling?

What are other apps that people like on their Black Berry?

I have a Bold. Make sure GPS is on: Options > Advanced options > GPS > GPS Services: Location On. You do need to be outside to get a GPS signal.

The few times I've used it, it did find a GPS signal rather quickly, but it wasn't that accurate compared to a dedicated GPS device (like the Edge 500)

Other Apps? Google Maps. It even has bicycling directions.

Tall buildings and electromagnetic interference might be the culprit. Typically those things will make it very jittery if you do get a signal. I use iMapMyRide but that was in the apple catalog and I am not sure if the make it for multiple platforms. It works fairly well but I have used it most in the less dense areas and burbs of the city.

The signal graphic in my app seems to suggest that signal is present but it doesn't connect. Im guessing that interference is the issue. Ive checked the options and it is on Location on. I'll try the app again tonight. Thanks for your input.
