What's everyone's gear ratio for the winter? Or what's your favorite gear ratio?
I am riding a 42/14 currently. My summer bike is 48/16. The 42/14 starts off well, with a good push and I can get going fast, but also slow down well. Also, when that wind picks up I can handle it! But 48/16 is my favorite, simple but fast.

Hmmm...my gear ratio now for the winter is 46-18, but I was riding a 46-17 in the summer. I might just stick with the 46-18 cuz I like it so much.
45/15
48/16 seems good to me always. man i need some better effin shoes my toes freeze everytime even with 3 pairs of sock
I use this great online gear calculator: http://software.bareknucklebrigade.com/rabbit.applet.html
It will also show you how many skid patches you'll have for your gearing (48/16ers be ware).
This is funny. I was going to ask this question by posting a thread, and here it is already out there. When I got my first fixed gear, I rode 48/15 for about 1,000 miles. Then I went to 48/16 and used that for two seasons and several thousand miles.

I thought I was a "pusher" (in the vein of Jan Ulrich) but since getting a proper geared road bike this summer, I'm learning I go much faster if I'm a "spinner" (like that dude who makes people wear yellow rubber bracelets).

So I'm thinking about gearing down a little more...maybe to a 17 tooth cog. I checked out the online gear calculator provided by Gabe and when I learned that my skid patches would grow from 2 (I'm an ambi-skidder) to 17 by adding the tooth, I think that may have convinced me.
46/15 all damn year. word.
44/17 for winter, usually 48/17...werks good so far. keepin the 44, gonna do a fixed/fixed hub 17/15
46/18 all year round.
Just changed my cranks! 46/16 for 75.6" on 700-23's (with 700-35's: 78.1")
Going to get a 13 or 14 for the track (trying to get close to 90" without changing the chainring)
In the winter I mostly run a 42/17 on my Bianchi San Jose Cyclecross bike. It might be a tad low but I like the spin. The Spin Meister. I like lower gears for jack Rabbit starts at Red Lights. I like to clear the Intersection before the cars decide what to do/

Tires I run A 700x38 in front and 700x35 in back. On occation I have an Extra wheelset for snow and Ice. I ussually will just switch out the front wheel with a 700x40 Studded tire. Works great on those Icey/snow morning or even end of the day Comutes
I run 62 gear inches in winter (39x17T w/700x35c studded tires) and around 72 gear inches during nicer weather.
