Anyone know where I can buy these in store in Chicago?

Are they pretty safe helmets?

Every "bike" helmet needs to meet the standard, but Bern sells snowboard and skate helmets. Be sure to get the correct version for your use.

As far as safety goes: Every helmet sold in the US is CPSC approved, so there should not be a noticable safety difference between helmets.

We have only had 5-6 Prolights come through the shop, but all were under 200g on my scale, which honestly I wouldn't trust is more accurate than within 10%. The one I have weighs 187g according to my scale.

Just curious: which Giro weighs 185g? The Prolights we've had in the shop have come in >225g.

I googled bern helmets and clicked on the first link, a bern brentwood, it's claimed weight was 21 oz or 595 grams, your bell weighs about 300 grams, and my giro weighs 185 grams. I now see that bern makes more lightweight models,. You deserve your apple and I applaud the educated retort.
I say foul, Brandon. I bet you're tuning them, all German weight weenie style!

...and I would if I knew how.

LOL! If I knew how I would. But I know better than to tune something that contributes directly to my own safety.

I like mine, they're as safe as any other, and, for what it's worth, I get more compliments on my 'cute helmet' than on anything else I ever wear (haha).

I ordered mine online and mine is NOT size-adjustable except through the straps, and it doesn't fit as well as I'd like (xs women's size is still too large for me? I'm pretty sure I have a normal sized head), so I'd definitely try them on in person.
