So sorry to hear it, Lauren. I've noticed an awful lot of black, ladies English bikes around lately. I need to start turning around and identifying them or following them to find out.

Dear BBC-ers,

It is with great sadness that I report the theft of my dear ladies' 3-speed black Dunelt (ca. 1963) from my garage on Friday last.

I've filed a police report and also posted on the Chicago Stolen Bike registry & am spreading word via Twitter, Facebook, etc, but thought this group might naturally be on the look out for lovely British bicycles, so just maybe there's the chance one of you might spy my Dunelt somewhere...

Link to my Stolen Bike Registry: http://chicago.stolenbike.org/node/184442

I have only seen 2 others like it in all of Chicago, so I'm hoping it's rare enough that it will stick out and eventually work its way back to me. Really, really hoping it hasn't already met a shallow grave in a steel yard somewhere...

Any information is greatly appreciated! And/or if anyone is selling a used Dunelt or similar, I might be ready for that after the mourning subsides.

Sincerely,
lauren "love my dunelt" viera

Michael! God to hear that you and your steed survived. Rest up for Lake Pepin!!!

Tasted a little asphalt along the Fox River Trail this AM on the Superbe. Neither of us are much the worse for wear. Sore shoulder and a bit of a bloodied knuckle for me, a scuff on the B67 for the Superbe. I am please to report, however, that the stove clip I made for the Optimus 00 paraffin burner held tightly to its charge and did not allow it to fly off into the mighty Fox, even when fully fueled.

Sounds like fun. I would like to suggest it not fall during Pitchfork (July 16-18) so that I can partake in aforementioned picnicking. Last weekend's weather was pushing the tweed. I might have to go for seersucker on this one.

The Central Committee met last night, at the rather (un)British Hutten Bar and most heartily approved a summer tweed run that could take us south to Hyde Park and a picnic at Promontory Point. If this wins the approval of the chaps & chapettes all we need is a date, possibly in July?

Hmmmm.... What about a Summer Tweed Ride that ends at a park or yard, where we screen one of those new-fangled motion-pictures on the lawn?

Heh Heh, Thanks Sly. Pack it up - I'll get you my mailing address ;)

Looks like more tweedy-rides are in demand!

More rides indeed. I've yet to make it in! Sept. seems so far away. "If they rest, they rust".
