I'm going to take a wild guess that this is more prevalent with road bikes and fixies and bikes with that more aggressive posture. I'd love to see a breakdown on injuries statistics broken down by type of bike. I know many cyclists gravitate towards the faster more efficient styles of bike, but my own two cents from my own anecdotal experience is that the more upright styles of bikes tend to be safer, especially when taking a spill.
