When I passed 60,000 miles back in August (since I started keeping track in 2005), my nephew's Italian girlfriend asked me how many kilometers that was. I guessed near 100,000, but was off by 2137 miles.

So since I love round numbers, I made that my goal for the year.

I'm happy to say I passed 100,000 kilometers (62,138 miles) this morning, and passed 5500 miles for the year.

The rest of the year is gravy.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Pass the gravy.

Adding 846 miles (damn the holidays!) and 6 Perimeter Rides in November, I enter the last month of the year with with 10,487.4 miles and 80 Perimeters y-t-d. Though I have now fallen behind 2016's pace by 514 miles, I have it in my sights and am confident that I can still surpass last year's totals.

14100 miles. Closing off 2017 with record high miles and looking at another 1000 on my current tour from Tucson to Oaxaca

How do you guys record all your total miles you've biked? Do you record each trip on Strava, or via another website or app? Maybe I should try doing this, for 2018. I'm sure this year, I've definitely beaten my past 2 biking records, for miles ridden. It's AMAZING how many bike miles I've ridden, and replaced former CTA rides(both on buses and trains, ewww don't get me started on how disgusting and annoying riding the Red Line is! I avoid the Red as much as possible...) via biking instead!

I too am a Red Line avoider. :) I use MapMyRide, which is owned by UnderArmor. It's a decent app, although on at least two occasions it decided to not actually start timing me until my ride was about halfway over. But you can have it give you how many miles your ride was, how many miles you've accumulated for the year, since such'n'such a date, etc.

I tried Endomondo Sports Tracker before, but it had a habit of ignoring the GPS and somehow having me get from home in Edgewater to work downtown in fifteen minutes by zooming out over the Atlantic Ocean and boomeranging back.

BTW...I've racked up about 1300 miles so far, mostly from riding to work and back, anywhere between 7.5 and 9 miles each way, depending on which way I take home. I ride as much as I possibly can, not riding on days when we expect a downpour or dangerous weather. Yet I'm seeing people who are logging like 9,000 miles and higher. DON'T YOU PEOPLE HAVE JOBS?!??! How do you even have time for that???

i just let my bike computer keep track.

just doing the math, between 7.5 and 9 = 8.25 each way = 16.5 round trip, 5 workdays per week * 52 weeks per year = 260 workdays per year = 4290 miles per year?

I don't stop at Stop signs.

Hahahaha!

On a serious note, 'cyclists' who train can put on serious miles in little time. On a good day I can knock out 30 miles in an hour and a half. I bet plenty of people spend that much time working out and going to/from the gym every day. Lots of people do weekend group rides that can be 50-100 every Saturday and/or Sunday. Add in some commuting and hitting that kind of millage is impressive but not unheard of by any means.

Personally, I plan to hit my 7,000 mile goal today and want to go for 10,000 next year!

Congrats on hitting your goal today. Bump it up!

Allan, I simply use Google Maps. No smartphone or GPS guidance systems for this rider.

2436 after the Twelfth Step Ride. i thought 2500 was going to be out of reach, but maybe not!
