The Chainlink

Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

Uber driver using the Elston bike lane (at Augusta) to drop off a passenger. Reported to 311 and Uber.

Response from Uber:

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We take the safety of riders and drivers very seriously.
As a result of your feedback, we will be reviewing the driver’s account and potentially re-evaluating the driver's access to Uber. As our Community Guidelines make clear, drivers using the app are expected to drive safely and follow the law at all times. This includes respecting everyone who shares the road.
We appreciate you choosing Uber

Last night on my way home, I was in the contraflow lane on Ardmore...or I THINK it's Ardmore??? Anyhoo...there was a Lyft driver pulled over in the bike lane. Guy in front of me yelled at him: "YOU'RE AN @$$HOLE!" Lyft driver yelled, "Right back atcha" or something to that effect. Then....Mr. I'll Yell At The Lyft Driver For This Traffic Violation zooms RIGHT THROUGH THE BIKE-SPECIFIC STOP SIGN and nearly takes out two people walking in the crosswalk; the woman said, "Who's the @$$hole now?"
