I took a pretty good look at this, and I think it's a very useful book, especially for a beginner.  I could quibble about a few things, like how the author appears to dislike derailleurs, but they would only be minor quibbles.  The section on bike security is as good as anything I've seen.  I downloaded the epub and will certainly be keeping it and spreading it around.
