A route I have used is to go through Riverside and Brookfield to Burlington to Brixies, then take East Ave. (South it turns into Santa Fe) to 75th then Willow Springs to Imperial Oak. This way you don't have to go all the way to Wolf.

i've taken ogden all the way to/from plainfield rd and didn't think it was so bad, and it's maybe the most direct. but maybe we don't need to be so direct if we have 2 hrs.

thanks everyone for reminding me about longcommon. spring rock park is a little farther west than we need to go. you guys all like wolf better than gilbert = willow springs?

donna how was the wright ride? i rode with opcc in a previous life.

Ogden in the burbs not a good route. Maybe try switching over to 25th pl /26 th st just before Cicero & stay on 26th until you hit riverside drive (left) in Berwyn. Follow that onto longcommon rd, head west (right) on Forest in downtown Riverside which will become Washington after crossing 1st ave & eventually Harding. Harding dead ends at Edgebrook. Turn left & take that south crossing Ogden untill you come to Burlington. Head west (right) along the tracks & cross over tracks just past the tower in the park in western springs (Starbucks on other side of tracks). Turn right on other side of tracks & make 1st left at spring rock park. End of park is 47th head right & continue on your route. Route along riverside drive to 47th is traditional training ride route of oak park cycle club

An alternative is once you get onto riverside, follow the green arrows in the road which will lead you on a slightly different variation of this route to spring rock park & then 47th street. These are from the Wright Ride 2 weekends ago.

I'd head west to Oak Park Ave, take that to Riverside Dr., head through Riverside on Longcommon then head west on Washington then drop south on Brainerd.  Something like that.  Quite a few variations.

Well the portion in the city is ok.  Wouldnt want to ride it in the suburbs though.  There is a pretty decent route on low traffic roads that gets you to Western Springs...

i don't mind ogden. a lot of it's been repaved recently, and there are stretches with that protected side lane. your'e not so keen on it?

You don't really plan to take Ogden Ave most of the way do you?
