Michael, I guess it was you running on the LFT? Sorry, didn't see you: tunnel vision. Though, I have to say that if it were a group of shapely women instead of middle aged dudes, I would probably notice them ;)
Gee, are there so many Michaels? . . . A had to be more specific: did you go to the David Herlihy's book event at the Cellar? And by "met" I didn't mean "introduced."
Postscript: Hi Michael
One other thing of our previous thread that raises a question is that when I took a good look at the bike in the sunlight this afternoon one can clearly see blue paint showing through in various places on the frame and chain case. That along with the plastic fenders and no locking fork raise the question of whether this might be a parts bike salvage. This isn't anything I can't live with-I'm just wanting to establish what the bike is and to get your thought. My lbs says that he sold a lot of these bikes and there were not any plastic fenders. Did you buy it from a private party or a bike shop? Anyway, that's the latest. Jim
Michael, yeah you definitely did a great job of packing. And I appreciate your observations-I think the variation in manufacture that you mention is likely the case. I'm taking it down to the lbs next week and look forward to some good times with it. Thanks again and enjoy your weekend. Jim
Please see my earlier post re comments and questions. Also, how do we reconcile that this Superbe does not have the fork lock which is a signal item for that model? BTW, the lugs on this model are really nice. Regards. Jim
Got the bike at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon as you forecast. Really great job of packaging and FedEx apparently knows how to handle bikes (I've heard they were good). Got the bike nominally assembled so that I can wheel down to local lbs. Does it need reconditioning in general or anything specific? There's a slight tear in the lower rear fender that I'll see about repairing and I'll be looking for a kickstand on ebay or wherever. There's a small clamp hanging on the rack-do you know what that's for? Is the rack an add-on or OEM-I'm asking because of the color.
Anyway, I am really pleased with the bike-it seems a neat size and I can just clear the top tube. The saddle is cool like you said and so is the bike. Thanks very much for getting it out so soon. If you'd rather I call you with all these questions, let me know what's the best time for you; otherwise hope to hear from you direct BTW, my email address is: jamesduncan03@comcast.net for direct replies that I can't miss. Thanks again. Regards. Jim
Just got your message. This is the first one I've received since you gave me your address. For some reason, your earlier messages about confirming the address and sending the bicycle did not land in my email box like your other messages so I did not know you were sending me messages! Sorry to not be responsive. For the record, my address is 6870 E. Via Colorada, Tucson, AZ 85750 but I think that we will be okay with how you sent it. I am looking forward to having it. If I change out the rims, will that necessitate changing the forks and so on? I know that changes to the Superbe are a lot easier than fooling with my Raleigh Tourist Dl-1. Thanks again! Jim
Michael, I mailed a Chase Bank cashiers check for $335 at 1:45 p.m. this afternoon Priority Mail, delivery tracking and confirmation number 03092880000042881254. You should have by Monday. Thanks again. Jim
Thank you and I definitely want to buy it because even if it's a little big, that's ok and my brother will also enjoy it. (I had an old Raleigh 10-speed that was probably too big technically for me and it was fine.) I too plan to have my lbs do the same rim replacement you're talking. When you're ready, let me know for sending the check. My phone number btw is 520 529 0887. I'll send check for total amount on Chase Bank and after you cash you can send. I will give it a good home. Thanks, again! Jim
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your reply. I'm interested in this bike if if will fit me-I'm 5'7"-any thoughts? My guess is it would-what is the stand over height? Also, could we figure out costs for shipping and handling and I would add that in it and you could send after check clears. Thanks. Jim Duncan
