"thank you. This looks like it could work out! I'll take your advice on the metra too. I was thinking about driving but its like a 45-1hr drive with no traffic. How long does the metra take from somewhere near the city?"

"Thanks I'll look that up, I figured I would just drive out there and try some back roads. But if people had particular routes that would be awesome, aside from that I will defiantly look into the area you described. Thanks so much!"

Kelvin Mulcky replied to Tung Luong's discussion 'Algonquin area'
"Between Bull Valley and Barrington is great hill country. Stick to the backroads and you'll be fine. There's enough cyclists out there that the motorists (should) know to watch out."

Algonquin area

So me and my friend just moved to the area and are looking for areas to train with hills. I noticed after driving in Algonquin there were a fair amount of hills. Too bad Algonquin road isn't safe or else that would be a perfect road. Does anybody know any routes out there that we could get some decent rides in say 40-50 miles with a fair amount of hills?

"Yeah I can help out. A flat lock may be harder. May have to go at it with a grinder. I'm not sure if there is an electrical outlet there then I can just go at it with power tools. I don't need anything for helping out. Just helping out!…"

The kind of riding I do:
Recreational, Exercise, Commuting, Distance, Competition / Racing, Around Town
About me:
Very avid cyclist. I put myself through college working on bikes as a head mechanic for many years. I started doing freeride MTB, then rode a lot of BMX. Still do ride BMX a fair amount for fun. In the last few years I have been racing road bike and cyclocross, mostly focusing on cyclocross. I have my Cat 3 in cross, and still have a cat 5 road license as I don't race road too often. Additionally I have a fixed gear bike for around town and enjoy playing bike polo and doing trick track.

Hi there!!! Thanks so much for all your suggestions with the damn U-Lock! :-)  So unfortunately I don't remember if it was a round key or the flat key.  Is it difficult to pick the lock if its a flat key?  You offered to maybe help me out setting it free? Is that offer still on the table?  I'll pay ya back with some cash or a 12-pack of beer :)  The bike is near Clark and Diversey.
