Tricolor replied to Jim Shaw's discussion 'Skateboards in bike lanes?'
"I don't think falling is the problem as much as the weaving through pedestrians when it's crowded.  Hopefully in a bike lane that's smooth enough for a board weaving isn't needed as much."

Tricolor replied to Adam Herstein (5.5 mi)'s discussion 'Ortlieb Panniers: Classic vs. Plus'
"I bought a pair of the classics when I bought the LHT and used one for commuting and sometimes two for shopping.  One is plenty for a full set of work clothes and plenty of tools with space to spare.  Before that I commuted four years with…"

"Forgot to add there's also a rough concrete trench on State Street between Washington and Madison, right in the center of the southbound lanes."

Tricolor replied to Matt M.'s discussion 'Damn. I just cleaned my chain with Tide.'
"I just added some numbers and see my bike (new in September)  has about 2,200 miles on it.  I'm going to start cleaning it up tonight and see if there are any emergency repairs needed before the weekend.  I've got a…"

"What's wrong with bar end shifters?  They're pretty simple, robust and can operate without indexing."

Tricolor replied to M's discussion 'Advice on a steel bike?'
"I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten a Cross Check rather then the LHT but really it's just so comfortable and can handle a lot of shopping in addition to my commute. "

Tricolor replied to Jim Shaw's discussion 'Skateboards in bike lanes?'
"Just stay consistent and there's rarely a problem.  On the sidewalks too many boarders weave around and cut people off.  It's the same when bikes on the street do this with cars or one another."

Tricolor replied to Gabe's discussion 'Think of this as a Missed Connection.'
"Like I said, I didn't know the exact situation.  Yer spot on. "

"It's a good reason not to pass traffic on the right, even if you don't see a turn signal."

"Doesn't sound very appetizing."

Tricolor replied to Davo's discussion 'Pedicab Regulations'
"There's no way those things 'fit between cars' as that owner states.  Otherwise, if there's ample warning about setting a price before a trip I don't know if a displayed fare is needed.  How do the carriages that…"

"I think some of the longboard riders in the city may start using Dearborn's lanes if the sidewalks get crowded, too.  Not that it's ever stopped them from using the sidewalks before..."

Tricolor replied to Alex Z's discussion 'Weird sign in the Dearborn PBL'
"Free valet downtown?  I don't think I've ever seen it.  Most of them look like some kind of syndicated operation that provide service to restaurants, I would assume for a fee in addition to the rates charged to drivers."
