"Winthrop and Kenmore (from Ardmore to Devon) gets more than its share of double parking by apartment residents, their guests, delivery people, etc., which affects our ability to use the bike lanes.  The area around Thorndale can be a bit dicey…"

"I like the slower pace and the quiet end of street beach that is Rogers Park. Let the high rises have their "exclusive" beaches. They only have lake front (mostly rocks) and use the public beaches anyway.  "

"I think there are four stretches in that area to consider.  Only by making these areas more convenient than risking your next on Sheridan Road will make any northern plan work. The first is between Ardmore and Devon.  There are bike paths…"

"I'd be more interested to hear talk of the southern two miles. I've got a place on 76th at the lakefront, now lovingly known as "terror town," and I feel like at this point any investment by the city to improve mobility in and…"

"We need a lot more investment in improving south side rideability NOW.  We've gotten some commitment through Streets for Cycling, although most of those routes are taking a back seat to the north side on the implementation schedule. …"

"The ballot referendums asked voters if they favored extending LSD, including commercial land uses.  There was never an option to vote on only extending the bike path."

Mark replied to Stan Bratman's discussion extending the Lakefront bike path to Howard Street...
"This is the problem.  We can't get a bike path because lakefront NIMBY's think this will automatically lead to an extension of LSD.  I know that CDOT and Ald. Osterman have killed any plans for extending LSD.  The costs are…"

"Not a priority. There are a lot of places to build trails and cycle tracks that won't require massive expenditures of political capital. Focus needs to come off the North side at some point, in any case. For most citizens, the South side is…"

"There is already a lakefront path that goes all the way to Evanston.   If only they could get the cars to quit driving on it the route would be perfect for bicyclists. "

Bill Savage replied to Stan Bratman's discussion extending the Lakefront bike path to Howard Street...
"Only a dozen or so buildings have private beaches, a left-over from when the area was not part of the city and property extended to the riparian border (the waterline, basically).  The reason Ostermann knows this is political suicide is that…"

"This is a terrible plan for the North Side.  We do NOT need more landfill park.  Rogers Park and Edgewater have unique urban/nature interface: street-end beaches.  You walk to the end of the street, bang, you're in the sand and…"
