"I see quite a few construction workers on public transportation. They bring their tools on little dollies or other rigs of their own design. I carry a lot of equipment in what I do so I'm always interested in how others do it be it on a…"
"I think we can also agree that vans are much better for transporting bikes than pickups. No contest. I can fit 4 bikes easily & they ride in air-conditioned comfort. Blankets, cardboard, racks!?!? The whole set-up cost $30."
"To elaborate on this. I bought inexpensive fork mounts at Performance which I secured to a piece of 1x6 to carry my bikes inside my van. The same kind of thing can be adapted to a pickup. Easy & inexpensive solution."
"I'll leave the second lock on the rack so I don't have to carry both. It is a bit of a hassle to carry 2 ulocks as well as a cable lock with all the rest of the crap that I'm usually transporting. I'll risk losing a lock over my…"

"My daily rider is an ancient Trek 830 that I've been riding for over 20 years. Fantastic bike. You can pick them up for a song as long as they're not early Wisconsin built lugged frames. Those are valued by collectors."
Michael, I guess it was you running on the LFT? Sorry, didn't see you: tunnel vision. Though, I have to say that if it were a group of shapely women instead of middle aged dudes, I would probably notice them ;)
Postscript: Hi Michael
One other thing of our previous thread that raises a question is that when I took a good look at the bike in the sunlight this afternoon one can clearly see blue paint showing through in various places on the frame and chain case. That along with the plastic fenders and no locking fork raise the question of whether this might be a parts bike salvage. This isn't anything I can't live with-I'm just wanting to establish what the bike is and to get your thought. My lbs says that he sold a lot of these bikes and there were not any plastic fenders. Did you buy it from a private party or a bike shop? Anyway, that's the latest. Jim
Michael, yeah you definitely did a great job of packing. And I appreciate your observations-I think the variation in manufacture that you mention is likely the case. I'm taking it down to the lbs next week and look forward to some good times with it. Thanks again and enjoy your weekend. Jim
Please see my earlier post re comments and questions. Also, how do we reconcile that this Superbe does not have the fork lock which is a signal item for that model? BTW, the lugs on this model are really nice. Regards. Jim
