Calling all foodies, gastronomes, and gluttons alike! I'm proposing a monthly get-together that rides to a destination that offers delectable comestibles. Destination decided by the group. Initial ideas are Pizza Art, Hero's, Smoque. Endless options!

Excuse my pimping our moving sale, but we do have a huge amount of bike stuff, tools, recording gear, drums and the like to make it more interesting than your typical yard/garage sale. Everything is cheap because we don't want to move it again!

Yes, the Green Bay Trail is paved and limited access for about 6 or 8 miles (could be way off on that figure)-- if you continue north you will be on a combination of streets and crushed limestone near Ravinia. I used to use parts of that channel tra…

I'd say 95% paved. There was about a 3/4 mile stretch that was a compact trail. I couldn't tell if there was a mirror paved path on the other side of a line of trees. It looked like there was but it also might have been a cart path on a golf course.…

thanks for this - is GB a paved trail?
July 6, 2009
yeah, I got out to the prairie path yesterday - I found the unpavedness of it a little challenging on my skinny tires. I liked my ride out to it, though. I think I'll do some more exploring in that area. Liz

I did this ride yesterday and would not recommend Naragansett - it is very rough. A nicer alternative is Austin to some point south of North Ave, where you can then shoot west to Ridgeland, which is a very nice road. Liz I ride west on the Wrightwoo…

the road to well-ville

To anyone reading this: This is me jump starting my bicycling recovery!
A brief history and explanation: Last Fall I invested in a high end (for me, that is) road bike, my goal being to eventually begin some long distance riding - something I've been interested in since high school. Cut to December - when I tore two ligiments in my knee in a sledding accident which put me out of commision until now. I have just begun riding my bike again after a long, idle (not counting the excrutiating recovery… Continue

Liz,
I live out on Wrightwood by Cicero, so thats my main route in to town..pretty damn nice except that every vehicle blows every stop sign on Wrightwood.
Theyre learning though ...slowly
Took the IPP out to Batavia last month.
Quite a haul out there...
Once you get to the hookup near 1st avenue in River Forest its pretty well mapped out.
Want to do the south route sometime about 100 miles RT.
Trying to get a loop to PAlos this weekend..inlaws live out there so I can get a good lunc and ride some hills.
Usually we truck out with the baby traler then hit the
limstone trails out there.
My wifes not big on streeet riding with Kasper he's 2.5.yrs
and 34 lbs and refuses to pedal his own rig.
I'm trying to figure out how to post maps and routes on this site ...?

Hey Liz,
Pete here...from the Shop on Carroll and Kedzie.
Here's a map for a leisurely ride I did on the fourth
after the rain subsided.
Easy 2-3 hours.
Granted, all the crazy people were probably in their backyards drinking their brains out at the time.
So little traffic then. Lots of deer in the woods around 6pm.
Iam thinking of riding Logan Sqr to Palos Hills on Sunday am.
Do you know of a decent route out that way??

Hi Liz,
I'm also in Logan and tired of the NBT. We sometimes ride Augusta Ave. over to Oak Park out to the Prarie Path, but it's nearly 10 miles of street riding, not my favorite part.
I'm headed out of town for a bit (have you ever heard of Bicycle Illinois?), but I hope to see you out there sometime soon.
