"Cool video.  One small factual error, though - the first oil crisis (at the time of the Yom Kippur war) was in 1973, not 1979. I think that the biggest reason the Dutch were successful in getting more bicycle infrastructure is that at the time…"

The Chainlink Bar Night at Uncommon Ground at Uncommon Ground on Clark

January 19, 2012 from 6pm to 11:45pm
Come thaw out your balaclava by the fire.  This month's Bar Night is hosted by the nice folks at Uncommon Ground, who are providing us a cozy room and a generous round of free appetizers.  (Come early.  You know your fellow cyclists are hungry.) The bar has a sweet selection of regional craft beers and the kitchen is committed to great food that is locally-grown.  Uncommon Ground is gaining national recognition for its innovative pursuit of sustainability and wants to support Chicagoland's…See More

Jeff Schneider replied to thepuppies's discussion 'Dangerous corners - best way to create a change?'
"Wherever the river or an expressway must be crossed, we run out of good side-street options and have to get on major arterials with fast car traffic.  These choke points should get priority for physically separate bike lanes."

Reverse Brake Levers (TT) on Moustache Handelbars

I'm planning to put moustache bars on a 1980 road bike.  I know most people put bar end shifters on these bars, but the bike has down tube friction shifters that I want to keep.  So, I have the option of putting reverse (time trial) brake levers on the bar ends.  I know this is not a new idea, so before I blast ahead I'd be interested to hear about any experience you've had with this setup. Thanks in advance...See More

Jeff, are you the guy that I've talked to a number of times at the Coffee Studio? I used to see you there either with a Pedersen or a VanMoof (but not lately).

Did you separate after the Grafton? I stuck with my early plan and left after Chief ONeills, but apparently they made it all the way to the end. God love 'em.
