What is this doing locked to a bike rack?

This has been locked outside the building where I work this week and seems permanently locked. In December it really doesn't matter but in warmer weather this is taking a parking spot that should be…Continue

David Barish replied to Ernesto Martinez-Ordaz's discussion Music... headphones or bluetooth speaker?
"I think not being able to hear is what makes earbuds dangerous. If it was distraction it would not matter  whether you had earbuds or a speaker. You still have music allegedly distracting you. I think the distraction depends on the actor.…"

David Barish replied to Ernesto Martinez-Ordaz's discussion Music... headphones or bluetooth speaker?
"Wearing headphones would not impact damages.  Damages have to do with how bad somebody is hurt, or what they have lost. The question is whether wearing headphones could effect liability.  Did you fail to hear the horn honking or the man…"

David Barish replied to Ernesto Martinez-Ordaz's discussion Music... headphones or bluetooth speaker?
"I think headphones are dangerous and  would not recommend them for bike riding.  I have the Boombotix speaker and like it. I do not use it a lot on the bike but find that when I do it provides good sound for me and  anybody close to…"

David Barish replied to V W's discussion Wrong way cyclists- an observation
"Reading the past few pages I cannot say anything more  about what people my age, or near my age were correctly and incorrectly taught. What I can say is that I see a call to make sure current riders of all ages are educated to ride WITH…"

David Barish replied to V W's discussion Wrong way cyclists- an observation
"I say garbled because I was not told to ride the wrong way.  I was told to walk or hike on the left and to ride on the right. I know that others were not given that information. A common misconception coming out of the 60's and 70's…"

David Barish replied to V W's discussion Wrong way cyclists- an observation
"I think that message did get garbled for people over 40.  I was told to hike against traffic and bike with traffic but know that this message was often misinterpreted and people thought it was good practice to bike against traffic. I agree with…"

David Barish replied to V W's discussion Wrong way cyclists- an observation
"I know you are looking when making that swing to the left. I am wary of making that swing without knowing what is coming up behind me and that wariness increases every time I pass the ghost bike by the Payton School."

May 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017
Join us for our second year as a team. Last year we did really well but they've wiped our history and put us back to square one.So let's rally as many cyclists for The Chainlink as we can! A few rules... outside rides are the only ones that count and they are doing all of the logging via Strava. If you don't have a Garmin or a computer that syncs, you can manually load your miles in Strava and it will import over to the National Bike Challenge app. Help spread the word, join the challenge, and…See More
