Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Madopal (18 mi...occasionally)'s discussion Worst Divvy Locations
"I'd guess that Irving and Keeler was selected because it's next to both an El and a Metra station. It wouldn't be terrible to ride south on Keeler from there."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Haddon's discussion Young biker, if I may ask, why do you put your lock in your belt and why are your keys dangling off your backpack?
"I look mine around the saddle rails, and then it hangs down just above the rear fender."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Greg Berry's discussion Dedicated Cycling computer or Smartphone app?
"Unless you only ride in areas with very good GPS reception (clear view of the horizon to allow for multiple satellite locks), a dedicated cycling computer will be more accurate. If you zoom in on your ride data from a smartphone app, you'll…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Mike Schwab's discussion Rain + Wind + Bicycle Trailer + Baby = Child Neglect?
"Yeah, there's a big gap between don't strap a broken trailer to a moped and go for a ride in a tropical storm, and don't ride with a child trailer in the street ever. An appropriate level of caution is somewhere between the two…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Mike Schwab's discussion Rain + Wind + Bicycle Trailer + Baby = Child Neglect?
"That looks pretty jury rigged. It sounds like they just looped the safety strap around the moped and the trailer hitch may not have even been connected. On a side note, those facial sores in dad's mug shot look like the early signs of a meth…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Mike Schwab's discussion Rain + Wind + Bicycle Trailer + Baby = Child Neglect?
"Also a tropical storm is more than just wind and rain. I'd question being out in any vehicle durring a tropical storm."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Maurice's discussion Major reroutes near Union Station
"Fulton seems like a stupid place to end the bike lane. Why not go one block further to where Clinton ends at Kinzie? One direction of riders is going to have a challenging cross at Fulton to get to the conventional bike lane for that last block."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"I suspect part of the reason for maintaining it is CP and CSX's attempts to merge and this line's potential to be a connection between CP's Bensenville Yard and CSX's Bedford Park Yard."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"If you're not sure who own's the tracks, it should be written on the little sheds that house the signal equipment at the grade crossings. If you don't get a response from CN, walk over to a grade crossing and verify it's their…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"The rails are being maintained for some reason. If you've never seen a train, the railroad probably thinks that the corridor could be valuable in the future (it connects two large yards owned by different mainlines) and is doing enough to keep…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"The rails are in decent shape and their are no weeds growing between the rails. For some reason, the railroad is maintaining that track."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"Unless the railroad has formally abandoned the track and filled papers with the Surface Transportation Board, the first step is working out an agreement with the railroad to use their land. Unless they're very charitable or need some good…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"The running surface of the rail of also fairly rust free. I'd be surprised if there wasn't traffic on that rail."

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Russ Mugnaini's discussion Possible new trail
"First step would be to determine if the tracks are abandoned. Looking at the condition of the rails in Google satellite and street view images, that looks like an active line. For resources on the conversion process, reach out the the Rails to…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Maurice's discussion Particularly dangerous bike lanes
"Even under ideal conditions, taking the lane adds stress. Therefore, a good design should seek to minimize points where taking the lane is required. In this case a conflict point was created for no reason. The east side of Clark is a brick wall…"

Cameron 7.5 mi replied to Maurice's discussion Particularly dangerous bike lanes
"I was never a fan of the contraflow lane on Berteau. It was always poorly marked and there's little indication that cross traffic should look both ways for bikes. Also the island that was installed at the intersection with Clark as part of that…"

Hey Cameron! I actually got word this morning that they found us a host family. Yeah! They're pretty close to the campgrounds actually. I'd love to meet up that evening or somewhere along the way for some good ol fashioned chainlink fun. Thanks again for looking into it for us. Cheers!

Hey, for the IL beach SP ride, would you mind if myself and Brittany were to share a site with you and liz? we have a 2 (and 3) person tent of our own. I wasnt sure how this all worked so I put our names down on the spread sheet but that can easily be changed.
