You sir are a font of crazy knowledge. Thank you for the introduction to Viktor Schreckengost! Not only was he CIA (Cleveland rocks, I guess) but his name is awesome. (One who conquers) + (terrors) + actual inventor. This chop shop chop chopper is ALIVE.

i just took her up almost every big hill on those bike paths by Medinah rd and Lake. Even that sooper steep short one by the new Scottish Rites, the former Adventureland theme park? Anybody?

Anywhoo... i would describe her ride as an only infrequently gyroscopically enhanced unicycle. It is really quite thrilling at times!

serial number

mo8262x25 6708

puts it b-day in 1968!

this means 'a chuleta" beats the Typhoon, by one year, as my oldest bike...

well, most of her, anyway... some parts of her, obviously, are newer... but that sort of mash-up is very vogue today, in many ways

In honor of "La Chuleta" completing 200 miles with no major mechanical problems....

i've been doing some research...

-she is a Murray "Eliminator
"
-created by american industrial master
designer Viktor Schreckengost. it was
the design of that chainguard that caught
my eye!
-sold under many headbadges... firestone... goodyear... sears....
jcpenney
-some models came with a steering
wheel!!!

i'll find out more when i decode the serial number..

not bad for spying her in the WB scrap pile! no wheels... no handlebars....

i took some liberties, Viktor...

what i did:

-added a schwinn varsity fork
-added 26" aluminum mtb rim/tire on
a skewer
-found a 20" rear wheel with coaster brake
so i stayed true to the F1 Eliminator
.
however? no slick. sorry Vik. i used a
Scrambler knobby.
-added a giant quill stem but used similar
ape-hangers close to, if not the original
-switched the kids crank to a adult
murray crank of the same look (faster!)
-added rear fender very close to, if not
original
-added circa '50's or '60's, likely British,
sooper cool, pointy front fender
-installed a smaller rear cog
-added the german army surplus bag.
helps carry ammo and counter-weights
the front to tone down the wheelies

my goal was to kick "convention" in the sack.

more later...
