Perimeter Ride 2012 Planning Group

The Perimeter Ride has been going for a solid decade and is an important first century for a lot of people who might not try such a thing without the CTA bail-out option. Also, it's awesome! Nature trails, oddball sights along the way, interesting food options and an easy pace for the moderately hardcore.

The venerable John Greenfield has been running it all these years, but he wants to step away and focus on developing new rides which will surely be fantastic.  Stay tuned for those, he's got some interesting ideas up his sleeve.

So--folks who love the Perimeter Ride, let's keep it going!  Weigh in here and we'll hammer down the details and post it as an event.

That's another big advantage to Chuck's idea of starting earlier.  We could also play around with the meet-up/ending spot to make it better for the night ride portion.

Agreed that we don't want to interfere with John's new ride with one of his old rides. Obviously the later we go into October, the less daylight we'll have for the ride. By October 13th, average high is 61; average low is 44, with sunrise at 7:01 am and sunset at 6:11 am. Almost six hours of riding after dark may not be appealing for some riders.

First things first--a date.  John is planning his big superperimeter for August, and we don't want to step on that.  October has been proposed and I like the idea of doing this in cooler weather.  Thoughts?
