Does Working Bikes need tires and tubes? I have small pile of used but not worn MTB tires and tubes that I have no use for that could potentially be used on your bike builds.

With the help of a lot of volunteers we were able to fill a container bound for the Village Bicycle Project in Ghana in about 4 hours on Saturday, June 13th ...

We crammed 331 adult (mainly 26" & some 24") and 144 20" childrens bikes into the container, along with 3 boxes of cranks, 1 box of brakes, 1 bucket of chains, 1 box of new MTB suspension forks, 23 extra 26" wheels and 4 bags of MTB inner-tubes.

Ghana Shipping Party Saturday at 10 AM to 3 PM at 2434 S. Western

We will load 500+ mountain and BMX bikes to be sent to "Ability Bikes" in Ghana.

People may have learned about this project from the film Emmanuel's Gift.

Following is a message from Carl Kurtz of Bikes Not Bombs about the shipment:

"I'm glad this shipment is going forward, the EEFSA's project, Ability Bikes, in Koforidua, Ghana really needs the bikes.

The EEFSA will be clearing the container from customs for this project.

The folks in Ghana are very excited to know that this shipment is imminent. I will let them know about your efforts, Please inform me of the date of loading and the sail date, ETA, etc of the shipment. The Ability Bikes collective can start to communicate directly with you all and send some photos and information when the container arrives.

I would also like to add that if Working Bikes receives crutches, walking aids, wheel chairs, and adult cargo tricycles all of these items are needed and can be helpful and could be easily distributed by the EEFSA.

However bikes in this shipment are obviously the biggest priority and should be given priority. Crutches we find can often be inserted in between the bikes. We will be declaring basically all bikes and walking aids in this shipment however we will not be including parts in the invoice paper work that you use. I think its best not to load parts at the very end of the load near the container doors rather just bikes and wheels in that area.

The consignee will be :

I bought my mountain/winter bike there. I've been nothing but happy with it.
