I hope the ride went well.  I was planning on doing it but wimped out due to the cold and the distance I would have to cover to get to the start from Bridgeport.

  Next time, I swear!

Rise and shine Family... Today, is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday. Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King. Today, we dream, we imagine, we build, we create. Today is our day. Today belongs to us. Today belongs to our movement. Today, we symbolically ride bicycles to pay homage to our ancestor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Let's ride...

Fall is a beautiful time to ride the Major Taylor Trail. Join Friends of the Major Taylor Trail for a ride on 10/4.

Effective this month, I will be representing the south side at the Mayor's Bike Advisory Council. Our next meeting is on Wed. 9/10. Do you have any concerns or ideas that you would like me to present at the meeting regarding south side bike facilities and other issues affecting cycling on the south side?

I'd be grateful if you could submit any immediate concerns or ideas to me by NOON on Saturday 9/6 at

Volunteers needed for Four Star Bike & Chow, which is happening on the south side this year.  If you do 6 hrs or more of volunteer work before the date of the event, you can earn a free registration for the event. Route marking volunteers are especially needed.

Ciclovamos, Pilsen/Little Village's newest bike advocacy organization, has been asked to help support this Saturday's 25th Ward Night Ride:

by providing ride marshals.  Hours would be roughly 7 to 10.  Familiarity with Pilsen streets and desire to help grow bicycling on the near SW side a plus.

Three weeks from now, there's a positive south side ride happening. Would you like to be part of it? The Urban Black Renaissance organization is partnering with Red Bike & Green on the Englewood Back to School parade, and they're looking for folks from other groups to join in.  I'm looking forward to being part of it.  Click here for more info and to RSVP.  I hope you'll join the ride.
