Ride of Silence - May 18, 2016 - One day. One time. World wide.

Join the annual Ride of Silence, an organized annual cycling procession honoring those that have been injured or killed. The goal is to raise awareness that we are here, and to ask that we all share the road.

Save the date for the 2017 Chicago Ride Of Silence - May 17, 2017

Our route typically passes several Ghost Bikes, which are powerful memorials to fallen cyclists created by painting a bicycle white and placing it at or near the site of the cyclist’s death.

DATE: May 17, 2017 (always the 3rd Wednesday of May)
TIME: Gather at 6:00 pm; Depart at 6:30pm
WHERE: Hundreds of locations world wide; Eternal Flame (Daley Plaza) in Chicago
One day. One Time. World wide.

Communities throughout Chicagoland participate in the Ride of Silence including: Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Elk Grove Village, Evanston, Joliet, Oak Park and Peoria.

It's not PayPal - that's why. We are in a battle with PayPal and not using them at the moment. WePay does accept CC donations; same concept as PayPal.

That wepay.com page only accepts credit cards or bank accounts.

It does not accept PayPal.

You need to set up a PayPal account or use a page that accepts donations from PayPal.

Getting to Daley Plaza by 6pm? Please help get folks checked in? Greet riders as they come in and have them sign in and get a flier.

Let's not forget tonight's record breaking world Tweet-Up event for Ride of Silence!

The global Ride of Silence Tweet-up:  We are asking organizers and as many of their participants as possible to Tweet a message at the start of your event.  Your tweet should include your event’s city, state and the hashtags #rideofsilence and #checkin.  We’re hoping this global tweet-up will raise further awareness through the media IF it’s big enough; we might just break a world record since we normally get over 20,000 participants at our events worldwide. (According to the Guinness World Book of Records, the most attendees at a ‘Tweetup’ is 1,935 and was achieved by Ndamukong Suh (USA) at the Hawks Championship Center, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA, on 16 April 2011.)

Although we will not be visiting this ghost bike, we remember ALL fallen cyclists, including Dion Harris killed early last May - http://www.mybikeadvocate.com/2011/05/ghost-bike-ceremony-to-honor-...

Ride safely Chicago riders. I am always conflicted as I am leading the Evanston ride but work right across the street from the start of the Chicago ride. For those of you north of the border please join the Evanston ROS leaving from the Chandler Center at 7pm. Information is at www.evanstonbikeclub.org  Lets all have safe and meaningful rides Wednesday night.
