Ride of Silence - May 15, 2013 - One day. One time. World wide.

Join the annual Ride of Silence, an organized annual cycling procession honoring those that have been injured or killed. The goal is to raise awareness that we are here, and to ask that we all share the road.

The 2013 Chicago Ride Of Silence will gather at the Eternal Flame in Daley Plaza on Wednesday, May 15, at 6 PM and depart at 6:45 PM.

Our route will pass 6 ghost Bikes, which are powerful memorials to fallen cyclists created by painting a bicycle white and placing it at or near the site of the cyclist’s death.

DATE: May 15, 2013 (always the 3rd Wednesday of May)
TIME: Gather at 6:00 pm; Depart at 6:45 pm
WHERE: Hundreds of locations world wide; Eternal Flame (Daley Plaza) in Chicago
One day. One Time. World wide.

In 2011 Chicagoland Ride of Silence locations included: Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Evanston, Joliet, and Peoria.

For 2012, there are 3 calendars to choose from - Chicago, Flowers in Bloom, and (most notably for us bikey folk) Bikes Around Town. :-)

Police: Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run crash in Pilsen

A bicyclist was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash with a car this morning in the city's Pilsen neighborhood, police said.
