Along the mainline branch...

Didn't Lombard get the memo about the state law that says cars are supposed to stop for pedestrians?  This is a pedestrian marked crosswalk.

Just got this today from DuPage County folks:

This message provides trail users information concerning upcoming construction on or near DuPage County trails by the Union Pacific Railroad.  Scheduled to begin August 28th, 2013, there will be a minor detour of the Illinois Prairie Path at Chase Street in Wheaton to prevent potential conflicts with construction activities. The Union Pacific Railroad will be completing work on an underpass that will connect the Illinois Prairie Path with Wheaton College and thus remove bicyclists and pedestrians from crossing this busy set of railroad tracks.

Please follow the detour signage and avoid contact with workers.  Construction activities and the detour are anticipated to continue through the fall.

Pedestrian access on Chase Street across the UP railroad tracks will remain until the underpass is opened to the public.

To make this for lane divided road crossing safe, Lombard would have to install traffic signals IMO

If anyone is looking for a group ride from Lombard to either Elgin or N. Aurora this summer let me know. I plan on riding from Lombard to Wheaton the day of the Lilac Day Parade. Short trip to he Popcorn Store and back.

Todd you still looking? I ride glen ellyn to the river on the weekends.

Sucks to hear about your flat, Serge. We rode out and back on St Patrick's Day and there was way more glass on the trail returning in the evening.

:-(.  I remember this being the case the last time I rode that stretch several years ago.  Ive avoided that area since.

the tooth of a wild animal? the most glass i ever saw was on major taylor.
