Information

Chainlink Sidewalk Riders

We are experienced adult cyclists who, under certain circumstances, with caution, deference, and respect for pedestrians, should there happen to be any, will ride short distances on the sidewalk in order to get to where we're going safely.

I wholeheartedly endorse the guidelines (above). I was riding the sidewalks in the Loop this morning (Sunday) because the State, Monroe, Adams, Michigan were FULL of Rock 'n Roll Half Marathoners...the sidewalks were empty, except for the abundant police cars.

I also RUN on the sidewalks. And have had a lot more pedestrian "encounters" as a runner than as a biker. I'd like to start a campaign to establish RUNNING LANES in addition to Bike Lanes on some popular running streets in Chicago.
