Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Up-to-date map (with a list, postal- and web-addresses and phone numbers, where available). Five hundred thirty (530!) so far.

"...with about 50 brewery visits planned (some of them are not opened yet)"

Breweries should schedule grand openings for your arrival date.

Comment by Serge Lubomudrov on February 8, 2018 at 6:51pm

Ha! That would depend on bpb (beer-per-brewery) average ;)

Comment by bobweiser on February 8, 2018 at 6:33pm

save the date, it should be 30° on sat. 2/17!

wow! 1350 mi., 50 breweries, and what, 200 beers? 300??

The busy season at work is almost here, but it doesn't mean we can't ride (or meet for a beer if it's snowing) on weekends, or plan for Summer.

Here's my plan for what's becoming an annual June brewery trip:

Three weeks, over 1350 miles long, with about 50 brewery visits planned (some of them are not opened yet).

I don't expect anyone to join me for the whole duration (21 days is quite a commitment), but if someone would like to ride part of it with me (say, from Harvard to St Paul, or whatever), let me know.

I've decided to ride to Griffith tomorrow. The weather promises to be sunny, temps just around freezing, light north wind.

If anyone wants to join, let's meet at 8 at the Queen's Landing.
