It's 8 May 1928, the Great Depression is more than a year away. The 20s are still roaring ... at least for cagers. The previous year Henry Ford ends production of the Model T with 15 million built and starts production of the Model A. A NYTimes editorial celebrates his success by announcing The Decline of Cycling Here. Among the many reasons cited are
  • The increasing popularity of car ownership
  • The resulting dangers from sharing the road with 20,000,000 cagers
Most fascinating, though, is the alleged cultural differences between Americans and Europeans.

But then I'd get stuck outside with nothing but the smokers and no a tasty English meal. What kind of bloody way is that to live?

Actually, the only issue with numbers is the 2nd evening's entertainment at the Eagle's Nest with it's limited seating. All you would miss is a tasty English meal if you just showed up.

Makes me feel like I lived through the wrong times. By the way, I selected the Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour and they have a banner that says the tour is full. Rats.
