Um, OK.... there are a lot of cities, particularly in the south,  in which transit is considered to be only for ... how shall I put it... people of a different class-- almost sounded like that sort of statement but I know that's not you...

Fine, don't let me wallow in dramatic hyperbole.

It's not *that* bad I just dislike it due to a couple of terrible incidents I have had on the bus and the CTA in general.  I avoid public transit like the plague but I know some people love.  Different strokes for different folks

I actually like riding the bus quite a bit.  What's the "indignity" thing about?
I'll be riding tomorrow though... not sure why I wouldn't be.  Cold is completely conquerable, just give me dry pavement.

I am sure I will be out there; no matter how cold I am or how windy it is riding a bike will always beat the indignity of riding the CTA.

Lord do I hate the bus.

I will be riding tomorrow, in Evanston and Skokie. I have a class in Skokie at 19:00, so I will really have to bundle up!

Well, I hope you live a block from the border on the Evanston side and your class is a block into Skokie....

It's a possibility, but I've yet to commit.

I"ll decide in the am. Definitely will bike to my gym in Lincoln Square.....maybe will bike to Diversey and pick up El from there.

+1

Yep! I'll do my wee commute in the a.m. and afternoon, then ride 8mi to a meeting downtown at 6 - that might be chilly, but it will be a great test of my full-on winter costume - first time this year! My 6mi roundtrip tonight was just fine. The option of towing my bike on the train for the ride home is there, but waiting for trains can be a lot colder than cycling...

I'm in, with my five mile commute. Looking forward to the challenge, at this point.

Work beckons.  I must ride.

I'm not biking because I'm working and have no need to leave the house. However, I have to give a +1 of support to Dug in his dislike of CTA. Metra I don't mind so much, but the buses and the L are pretty much worthless to me. I can't take a bus/L/Metra combo of pretty much any kind that gets me anywhere faster than I could already go on my bike. It seems like all the L stations smell like piss or barf, the buses often seem to dump you off partway through your journey because for whatever reason the driver is at the end of his/her line and has elected to tell no one. And on top of that unpleasantness, frankly I really don't like crowds of people and there are almost always way too damn many people on any bus or train I ever have the misfortune to ride.

I'll be on the bicycle! According to Weather.com, Monday & Tuesday are supposed to be the coldest this week.

As of now testing the new fit @ the lakefront and all places in between.  Cold stiff winds are alot of fun to test aerodynamics and build strength :)
