When did the Lakefront Path become a super-highway?

While biking down the lakefront path this morning between 7:00 and 7:30am, I encountered no fewer than three motorized vehicles--an armored truck, a semi-tractor trailer, and a white Saturn SUV with a flashing yellow light on the dashboard, all of whom forced the bikes on the pathway to swerve around them. All of these were between Ohio St. and North Ave. I know all this new traffic is probably related to the new restaurant at Oak Street Beach, but is there some way to get them to change their delivery hours to something that is not right in the middle of the highest-usage hours for the rightful users of the path?
