The Chainlink

As cyclists we have a natural fan.  But I do find that it's a bit harder to breathe out there these days.

You?

Re sunscreens and Vitamin D:  Well-known facts that

1) Those of us in northern latitudes such as Chicago do not get sufficient sunlight to produce minimal Vitamin D levels, and thus risk osteoporosis and weak bones

2)  Sunscreens further inhibit the skin's ability to generate natural Vitamin D from sunlight.

Therefore (1) use no sunscreens or those with LOW spf values, (2) take supplemental Vitamin D as much as 5000 IU daily, and (3) consider adding weight-bearing exercise to your daily regimen.

Different program, not as interesting to me.

Sounds like a perfect day to go catch the Grant Park Symphony.

So, what are people's thoughts on whether the heat is good for you in some way?

Does it help you lose weight?  Good for joints?

Yesterday was a perfect, perfect night for this!

I definitely drink more water on days like yesterday and Tuesday. I started bringing a water bottle to work for just that reason.

It's my favorite weight loss method: Get dehydrated when exercising under extreme heat.

I am looking to get me one of these for when the weather is not hot enough:

Don't you dare consider leaving off the helmet.
