Tour de Fat - Chicago, Illinois

Saturday July 16th

Yes folks, the Tour de Fat will once again be meandering and pandering through 13 U.S. cities spreading the good word about the positive societal offerings of the bicycle. Along with our exceptional ability to roust a city’s inner-cyclist, in 2011 we hope to drive our message even deeper by bringing you the biggest, most enjoyable traveling bike festival that we know of.

The Ride begins at 10 am at Palmer Square, but be there early to register.

Stay and enjoy the fun after the ride with music and theatrics by Squirm Burpee CircusDovekinsDaredevil Chicken ClubMucca Pazza and Free Energy.

This ballyhoo of good times will be benefitting West Town Bikes.

Stay tuned to the TdF Facebook page for updates and further details.

VOLUNTEER, to make Tour de Fat a success for West Town Bikes!

That's right, WTB needs volunteers to make it all happen. Click Here to find out more!

Registration starts at 9am the ride rolls at 10am the festival at 11!

Hopefully Google+ will have some sort of group/activity function (integration with the google groups somehow?) so that people can cluster around an event like Tour de Fat on G+ without the requirement to become a FB member.

Thanks for the info Bikefreek, I'll be there at 9AM bright and shiny to get all registered and legal-like.

Would be nice.  Nobody should ever have to see this:

when clicking on a link to get information about an open event.

For reasons beyond me I've never attended one of these.

What's the parade about? Is it a CCM like event? Do I have to register? What if I don't have a costume, can I still attend?

I am supposed to wear a costume?  Can I just go as a grumpy old coot?

I can volunteer for a later shift. Need to be downtown in the am  for the start of the race (to Mackinac), then zip back to the hood for TdF.

It's basically a street ride around logan square with a bit of mass to it, yes. You don't need to register. If you aren't wearing a costume you will be forcibly disrobed.

I'm a naturist.  Nudity doesn't bother me.  Is this really going to be a clothing-optional event?

Anybody know if there is going to be bike valet?
No, it's not really a naked ride. Please don't break any laws, and remember that there'll be plenty of drinking to do after the ride so don't drink during it.
