A good friend is flying out from DC to ride the Wrigley Field Road Tour with me again this year. He would prefer to rent a bike here rather than, as he did last year, bring his bike on the plane (a major pain). Can anyone suggest a place preferably in the city or around Oak Park/near west suburbs that will rent a decent geared road (non-hybrid) bike?
(Also let me know if you're riding the WFRT.)

Greenline Wheels in Oak Park rents bikes. They are also an L3C which is pretty cool.

Yea, I remember that wind, especially right before the lunch SAG stop. At least this year we double back, so the wind can only be in our faces half way, right?

Glad you guys are doing the ride. I'm really impressed with World Bicycle Relief. I did the ride last year with a friend and we are doing it again this year. Hope the wind isn't as strong as last year!
It's not near Oak Park, but you might want to try Lakeshore Bikes. I am familiar with their location at Waveland and the LFP right by the tennis courts. I've gotten some tubes from then a few times in a pinch. I know they do rentals, and have seen some road bikes there, mainly Fuji. Not sure how they compare with what your friend might be looking for. But, it might be an option. I see from their website that they also have a location at North Ave Beach, but I haven't ever dealt with that location or seen their selection of rentals down there .
