Oscar Winnning Chicago Documentarian Creating Doc About Women Biking in Afghanistan

A friend of mine, Caryn Capotosto, that I grew up with in Glen Ellyn is a film producer that is working on a film about female cyclists in Afghanistan. The working title is Afghan Cycles. Caryn is part of the production team that produced 20 Feet From Stardom which won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2014. Caryn has asked that I spread the work in Chicago's bike community and also to see if anyone is interested donating any bike-related rewards to the Kickstarter campaign.

This is an incredible project about an amazing initiative in Afghanistan. Please help spread the word!

Here is the email they are sending out:

Dear Cycling Enthusiast,

I wanted to introduce you to our documentary about a growing community of female cyclists in Afghanistan called Afghan Cycles.

We have been working on the film for two years and are planning our final trip to Afghanistan this Fall to complete production. We would really appreciate it if you might share our project with you local cycling community, either via blog, newsletter, social media shout-out, or even just word-of-mouth to your friends.

We recently launched a Kickstarter: http://kck.st/1JrWB17

Afghan Cycles is a Let Media production, directed by filmmaker Sarah Menzies. The nonprofit partner of the film is Mountain2Mountain, founded by National Geographic Adventurer Shannon Galpin. Follow Afghan Cycles on FacebookTwitter and Instagram. A formal press release is attached with more information about the film.

Thank you for your support!

Kind regards,
Team Afghan Cycles
