Rest in Peace, Mr. Stack.
RIP. I missed the story on this one.

I rode by the one on Grand where that poor kid lost his life recently. The area is so difficult to navigate as a cyclist or pedestrian.
Did he pass in '89? Just curious, why put up the bike now?

I met with the woman who put it up this past weekend, and brought your question to her.

Her response was "why not?"

Good morning.

I've joined this community to ask a question: is this ghost bike still there?

Many years ago (obviously), Patrick and I were lovers.  This Saturday, I'm passing through Chicago on my way back to Dublin, with a five hour stopover at ORD.  I'd like to visit the bike to pay my respects.

So if you're familiar with the neighbourhood, perhaps you could let me know if the bike's there.

Thanking you in advance.

Where is the ghost bike located?

EDIT:  707 N. Orleans.  Anyone ride by there and see his ghost bike?

I am checking.  I was there on Tuesday and cannot remember!

Thank you.  Google Earth doesn't show it, but it's possible that they're using images from before the place.

The person with whom I was riding just confirmed that the bike is there.  I was pretty sure I saw it, but did not want to say yes and have you come all of the way in and have me be wrong.

And here's a photo of it in place as of May 2nd.

Yes, the bike is there.... and we plan to pass it along this year's route for the Chicago Ride of Silence.

Lisa, Kevin, Chicago Ride of Silence, thank you all so much.

I'll report when I've been (three hours is enough time for there-and-back from ORD, I reckon).

The 21st century is a wondrous place - I ask some complete strangers about a lamp-post 6,000 miles from home, and I get a picture taken by a telephone in response.  Patrick would have been amazed.
