I'm planning on replacing the suspension forks on my Trek mountain bike for rigid ones but I don't know what kind. I'm looking at Surly Big Dummies, Instigators, or 1 x 1's. Any input would be appreciated.

I changed to a rigid fork at the beginning of spring and could be happier with my choice. Although I have no input on the brands you've mentioned, I had been told that I needed to make sure the fork I was putting on was "suspension corrected." After riding the fork I chose (a Kona Project 2 fork since I didn't want to spend much) I don't know if it really mattered that it was specifically "suspension corrected." I think it's just more important that the geometry of the bike isn't changed. Hopefully that helps and I'm not just stating the obvious.
