Man arrested after posting videos depicting harassment of cyclists.

Spring brings out the 'bicycle haters'.

Keith Maddox, 'cyclist hater', describes how horrible it is to share the road with cyclists as he drives to work. "Look, right there! Ride your little bicycle! You piece of crap! I'm gonna hurt one of them one of these days. Can't help myself, I'm gonna do it! "

"Get your pedaling butts off the road! GOD, I hate bicycles! "

Nice. Sorry, but there are a few people like this everywhere you go, especially in the springtime. Protect yourself. Get license plate numbers. Witnesses. Call 911. Press charges.

Let's get these drivers off the roads.

Hmmm article could've been less vague, for example, what was he charged with?

Calhoun county sheriff's office arrested and charged Keith Maddox with reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor charge, and released him on a $3,000 bond. He later posted an apology on Facebook, then took it down.
Thanks! Glad he was arrested. Hope they throw the book at him.

It's only going to make him angrier. Mr. Maddox has real psychological problems. Unless he gets drugs and therapy, he probably will kill or injure somebody someday.

Calhoun County Chief Deputy Matthew Wade said he worked out the deal, saying it was the right thing to do.

"Anytime you can change the behavior as opposed to just punishment, I think is an appropriate response," Wade told reporters afterward.

"I think it was a successful win for both sides, and the fact that the whole goal is to change behavior and to make sure people are safe, and that's what we wanted to do and want to accomplish," Wade added.

Wade says under the agreement, Maddox will attend anger management classes and will be under the supervision of the district court for an unspecified time.

If he meets all of the requirement, Wade says, the case will be "satisfied" and dismissed.

Wade says had this case gone to trial, Maddox likely would have been found guilty and would have been ordered to pay a fine and nothing more. He feels Maddox is actually punished more--"punishment through correction"--through this deal.

Thanks Mike Schwab for finding this. Let's hope Mr. Maddox's behavior will change and this will be a warning to other drivers on the edge to avoid this type of aggressive behavior and share the road.

And more importantly, cyclist Darin Sims, (the target of Maddox's anger in two videos), is safe and alive, and there is no ghost bike memorial to visit on Wednesday May 20, 2015 during the Ride of Silence.
