The Chainlink

Hey all,

I'm new to this community and to the biking community in general (year or so).  I am terrible when left to my own devices and I would love to ride my bike to work a few times a week or more.  Does anyone have a 9-5 M-F and they ride downtown and perhaps meet somewhere in the morning and ride down together?  Cheers!

I live in Logan Square/Humboldt Park.  Armitage and Humboldt basically.

I used to ride from there every day, but then we moved up to Rogers Park so my commute would be a little better workout-wise. In those days the bike lanes on Elston were pretty much passing lanes for cars and motorcycles--scary!

Same here. I can be pretty flexible in the AM time. Message me if you ever want to ride down together.

I live close to there and I commute to the loop M-F. Usually departing between 8 and 8:30.

Happy to give you some tips (and motivation) to keep you riding through the winter.

Follow what Durham has to tell you, except when he's in a Santa suit.

Speaking of Santa suits, mine needs to get out, bring on the Santa Rampage

hahaha....i like trouble too.   :)  Thanks everyone, I'm going to muster up the wherewithall to ride downtown to work.  I will hit you up when said courage arrives.  :)

You can do it!  I remember 5 or so years ago when Kathy Schubert invited me to a Chicago Cycling Club ride, I think it was the bagel ride.  I thought she and everyone else was crazy and I would never be able to ride in the cold.  And then with a whole lot of trail and error (and help from folks here) I got it.  It's not easy, but if it's something you want to do, it's super rewarding and you feel so good when you get to your destination.

I ride in from Damen and Addison daily. I like to take Elston to Milwaukee and then the west loop. Let me know if you want to tag along. I leave by 7 am every day.

I can ride with you every other Monday. I know it's not a constant buddy, but it's something. We could bike together Monday. I'm at Western and Division so we could meet there or I could meet you at Division/Milwaukee and bike with you part way. :D
