The Chainlink

Anyone know what happened to the barrier poles on Kinzie? Many of them are gone altogether, apparently even the bases were removed. There a few west of the bridge in the east bound lane that appear to have been sheared off the base and are scattered along the side of the street. There are still a few standing, but there appears to be no rhyme or reason to it. I'm guessing plow damage, but don't know. Anyone have any insight, or any idea when the city will repair this?

I just assumed they had been knocked down by the increased heavy truck traffic for the Wolf Point construction.

Same with Elston just North of Division.

The construction trucks routinely park in the bike lanes on Kinzie while they wait to go into the Wolf Point site. Last week I noticed the wheels of one of the dump trucks was sitting on top of what was one of those plastic "barriers". Don't be holding your breath for repairs, or for the trucks to be stopped from parking in the lanes.

Weren't they going to take out the Kinzie protected Bike Lane and relocate it North due to Wolf Point construction?

I wonder if anyone's yet tried attaching a small plow to a Segway?

Before reading the post, I thought it was about the section of Kinzie between Wells and Dearborn.

Another reason to install more permanent concrete curbs instead of plastic bollards.

I drove down Kinzie during my work day yesterday and not only were the lanes plowed, but the plow was giving another pass over the bridge as I went by.
