I was just doored heading east on Diversey ave a couple blocks west of Racine ave by a hispanic man who didn't speak much english at all and drove off immediately after I tried "talking" to him about it. I didn't get a plate number because I was in a daze and I still am. I have road rash on my arms, but I seem to be ok... I think. I have weird head, shoulder and neck pain. Luckily I was wearing my helmet today because it cracked on the ground on impact. Otherwise there would probably be skull bits all over the pavement.
I didn't even know what happened, I just felt impact and my head smacked the ground. I'm ashamed that I don't have health insurance, but I just can't afford it.

Glad to hear you're doing ok. Your health is most important here. Secondly how is your bicycle running? I and I'm sure many others would be willing to help you fix it or replace it when and if you're up for riding in the future.
Actually, that was Natasha Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave's daughter:

She could have been saved had she not declined help at first.

I'm feeling a lot better now, but I still get mild headaches. My bike is in decent condition, the front wheel needed to be trued and I had that done at bikelane on Milwaukee ave.
Right now I might end up moving in with my parents in Los Angeles because I was laid off a few months ago and now I'm having difficulty finding any kind of work. I worked in the technical side of healthcare management and I have a lot of office experience, but the market seems to be saturated and I think having an asian name like mine is working against me when they see it on a resume because they probably think I'm an immigrant and won't fit into the culture of their workplace even though I was born in Chicago. Now I'm thinking the car culture will just run me over in a place like Los Angeles. Run-on sentence/drunk rant over.
