The Chainlink

I rode in to work today, and now I'm thinking I might have to bus it half the way home.  I live about 7 miles from my office which really isn't bad, but man it is hot out there.  I was just wondering if I'm the only one considering wussing out.

had a great 15 mile commute home, consumed 4 bottles of water/Nuun and beat the rain in Skokie too.

Left the loop at about 4:30.  The ride along the lakefront was pleasant.  A breeze out of the northwest.  Of course, I was the one going about 6 mph!

The rain shower on the way home felt awesome!!!!

rain????  I heard thunder.  I'm indoors typing away.

Yup right around 6:15.  I got a nice soaking for about the last 5 minutes of my ride home!

I left work at 3:30, and made the mistake of gunning it on the way home, with those westerly winds and all. I paid the price as I came to my first stoplight - I felt like my body was on fire with the heat I was generating plus the already hot weather. Once I got home, I took a look at the thermostat (which read 97 degrees in my apartment) hopped into an ice cold shower, and had a couple PBRs to cool down. Picked my wife up from work and we went straight to Osterman beach for the evening. Thank goodness for the lake.

I spent my childhood and young adulthood in the tropics and then the south, so I've gotten used to hot, muggy weather, even if I've been in the midwest for a while now. So while it's sticky, it's no problem for me. I do drink lots of fluids. And I do heat-soak when I stop, like every other human. That rain shower at ~6PM on my way home sure felt good!

I rode home slowly and barely broke a sweat. Wasn't until I got inside that I got drenched . . .

What a strange feeling... if it were like this more than a few days a year it would be impossible to live in this climate IMO.

wouldn't it be a hoot to dress for winter tomorrow?!?!?!  layers, boots, goggles

amazing the difference in temps.   I'd take the cold any day.

This is my favorite riding weather. The cold/snow can kiss my ass.
Not me! I will pick Summer over spring winter and fall.
What's the weather tomorrow? I'm ready!
