Schwalbe Winter I believe.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time with dressing too. Usually my body is too warm, my legs just right, and my hands and feet cold. I'm even wearing those half rubber/leather LL Bean boots with Smartwool socks and my feet are always cold by the end of my 7 mile commute. Maybe they're sweating...

What kind of studded tires does Dutch Bike Co sell?
Big fan of Nokian W106 myself. And the flat resistance is pretty good.

Still can't 100% figure out how to properly dress. Yesterday I was cold, today I dressed a little warmer and started sweating. Merino wool usually doesn't make feel like you're sweating, but I guess I really overdressed.

I rode everyday this month!

Thankfully uneventful ride today. Finding the current snow/slush/ice sheets easy to track in/on.

I haven't seen another person on a bike in several days.

Monday? Yeah, that was pretty good.  My toes get a little numbish after an hour, so I think I'll need to find bigger pedals to accomodate my invincible LaCrosse boots.

Another uneventful ride in . . . nice!

I made it in today, though I kind of overloaded myself.  I decided to bring balloons as my contribution to my work's holiday party, so I carried my usual stuff (pannier with work bag, lock, etc.), and then I also carrried a large, 2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft container on my rack, a snowman, a penguin and a reindeer, and then also my 3 ft. balloon pump.

Oh, and I also sported a skirt and high heeled boots.

awesome...

my ride was extremely pleasant today. Best in two weeks with a close second last friday.

Nice Ride! Is that an Imola?

I agree, today's ride was rather pleasant . . . just as yesterday's :)

But now I urgently need that foaming bike cleaning thingie!

I'm totally new to winter riding and I'm having a great time so far! Rides are a little slow for my taste, but I'll get over that.  I'm riding Chet, my Gary Fisher MTB, which is a perfect bike for winter.

I do miss the geometry of my road bike. I have a feeling it's going to be harder to ride that bike when I make the switch. I rode it one day before the snow fell and somehow my legs/hips were kind of uncomfortable for the first time. I have a feeling that next year I'll have a fender and tire setup that suits my Trek and makes it possible to ride her in the winter. By next year, I'll also probably have my riding gear down pat and be happier on drop bars. (See! I like it so much, I'm already looking forward to next year :))

"BBRRRRR" said the legs.   "Why am I sweating?" said the torso.

So apparently just tights and shorts doesn't keep my legs from freezing, and wool long-sleeve base layer and windbreaker is too warm for my upper body.

Maybe I am crazy as one of my co-workers thinks.  I just hope my legs hurt from yoga last night and not from cold-induced muscle damage.

Here's to the sometimes-insane Bike Winter!

Just one of your co-workers? Hmmm . . . ;)
