I usually try to stay to the right of traffic so that drivers can pass, but sometimes I have to pass a stationary object. Am I missing something?

I usually don't know what their honking means. It's confusing because it is a poor form of communication.

It usually startles me and I get annoyed so I typically wave back aggressively.

They honk when breaking the law like backing up, they honk when you're "in the way" like waiting for the light to change. They honk when they're turning onto a one way street the wrong way.

Imagine as a person yelling at the person in line at the store/people in front of you to move because you want to check out faster.

I usually honk.. With a brief tap… At a cyclist when I am driving and they do not obey a traffic signal. For example on Friday I was waiting at a stop sign at Ainsle and Hermitage. For I could move forward a cyclist heading north in Hermitage blew right through the stop sign causing me to have to stop even though I had the right away. I give a brief honk to alert her I was not happy about this she just looked back at me shaking your head in disturbed matter like I had done something wrong. Really bizarre and inappropriate in my opinion
