has anyone rode the trails in midewin tallgrass prairie? or want to go?
I was thinking of taking the train to joliet and biking there. The place sounds pretty cool and quiet. Anyone gone and what are their experiences? Is road bike suitable? anyone thinking of going?

It sounds interesting, but I haven't been there. I hope it is better maintained than the Nachusa "Grasslands", which is rife with weeds, and could benefit from an annual burning off.

After looking around the website, I see that volunteers are involved with the place, which is a good thing. 19,000 acres is a huge area, something like 5 miles x 6 miles, and I seriously doubt the state has committed anywhere near the amount of resources to do a good job with it. Thanks for posting about it, it's now on my list of places to visit. If you get out there, take the camera and report back. Thanks.
