Trivia Q-- what was the original name of Skokie? (no using the internet!)

Niles Center ;-) They changed the name because it had gotten a reputation for drunkards. they not only changed the name but forever lowered the number of liquor licenses - that's why i moved to the city. ;-)

I think the real reason was that too many people figured out they could get there by following Niles Center road.

p.s. I've always hated riding in Skokie. Entitled Suburbanites and OLD people that should not be driving anymore.

The "Niles Center Swift" el line did not have such a great ring to it!

Sadly, it is now just the Yellow Line so it doesn't matter...
