The project which will add a contra-flow bikelane on Glenwood from Ridge to Foster was announced today by alderman Harry Osterman

A public meeting was announced for Wednesday June 10th, 6:30pm at Edgwater Baptist Church, 1402 W Hollywood

I am personally excited because this will create the first safe and legal southbound route between Winthrop and the UP-N tracks.

Hope to see you all there!

I'm looking forward to hearing about this!

This is great news! Glenwood was a key part of my route when I used to commute up to/from Evanston.

What will it connect with at Ridge? If I'm not on the lake I take Lincoln and Ravenswood since I can shop at either Trader Joes at Lincoln/Grace or the big Marianos at Lawrence on my way home.

It continues as Glenwood. It is just that Glenwood is a two way street except for the stretch between Foster and Ridge where it is a one-way northbound

I live on the stretch of Glenwood in question and I'm very excited about this. I hope people who would find this useful are able to show up at the community meeting, since the anti-bike cranks can be very vocal around here.

ok, I'll be there!

I live on Glenwood as well; found this flyer from the local nuts on the front door this morning.  I plan to be at the meeting to put a good word in for the bike lane..

So typical of these creeps not to be willing to put their names behind the bullshit they spread.

I assume your comment was made tongue-in-cheek, but someone at the meeting actually suggested taking out the trees to widen the street.
Sometimes I don't understand what goes on in people's minds...

LOL @ "how does this affect out property values?" - the ultimate bourgeois fear.

Wow. This is really outrageous. I live in the neighborhood (near Glenwood and Edgewater Ave.) and am looking forward to the new bike lane. Very often I ride on the sidewalk down Glenwood where this proposed bike lane would be. I also commute with my child. I will try to make the meeting tonight.

the ideal scenario?
Be there with your kid. Just introduce yourself and your kid to Harry and let him know you are in full support. Let him know the block you live in.
If you are short on time, you can leave now. Follow up with a nice supportive email to harry@48th.org reiterating your support and thanking him for his effort to make Edgewater more inviting to families who use active transportation.

Those actions will count more than 10 anonymous pamphlets.
