Gimme shelter! Congress Parkway gets pedestrian refuge islands

The city is wrapping up the rehab of Congress Parkway, the massive roadway that separates the Loop from Printers Row and the South Loop. I talked to CDOT's Janet Attarian about pedestrian improvements, including pedestrian refuge island that will make it safer, easier and more pleasant to walk along and across this thoroughfare. Unfortunately, despite what the Trib would have you believe, the project does not include bike lanes: http://gridchicago.com/2012/gimme-shelter-pedestrian-improvements-to-congress-parkway/

Keep moving forward,
