"Amazon spokesman Ty Rogers said Friday the online retailer will be required to collect the 6.25 percent tax starting Feb. 1. The Amazon spokesman says the online retailer "offers the best prices with or without sales tax."

Not necessarily. Amazon is supportive of this law because they are opening warehouses in the Chicago area with the purpose of significantly expanding same day delivery options. So instead of hopping in my car or on my bike to go to a Wal-Mart or LBS I can order online and have it at my door in a few hours. To do so Amazon is also investing in their own delivery network, that should provide delivery schedules accurate to the minute.

Amazon is just getting started...
