But ultimately whether it will be a success comes down to price point, fit, and durability.

Disposable beer coolers, cardboard, recycled milk jugs, whatever...
Permalink Reply by notoriousDUG on December 17, 2012 at 11:34am So is your logic here that a helmet, or 'magic hat' as you like to say, does nothing to prevent a severe head injury in the event of a crash where one's head hits the pavement?

Permalink Reply by kiltedcelt on December 17, 2012 at 1:26pm Definitely an interesting concept, but it appears to have zero ventilation as far as I could tell from the videos. I'm not buying one until they have some real ventilation, and by "real" I mean something more than the ridiculously tiny token air vents that end up on pretty much all of the skater-style "city helmets." Also, it may help cushion a lot better, but it still won't prevent concussions. You can cushion the head but it's still the high-g stopping force of a wreck that causes your brain to smack the inside of your cranium causing a concussion. Get hit hard enough to damage your helmet and you're still going to be at risk for a concussion. This design might lessen that, but it won't eliminate it.
