I locked up outside of my house while I took a quick nap, usually I bring her inside. Tonight someone stole the front mistral wheel with campagnolo sheriff star hubs off my baby. I am livid if I ever found who did it I would invite everyone who owns a bicycle to take part in a royal beatdown.

Weren't you a track rider? I thought pursuit bars were still in use there.  They're certainly used on TT bikes.

My friends always made fun of me for carrying 2 heavy ass nyc kryptonite locks. Yet to lose a wheel.

They were only allowed in pursuit races, never in mass starts.

and the keyword here is TRACK   ... Like the old fad of mtb bikes that never saw dirt, fixed geared bikes that never see a track

Glad to hear that you are back on the road! Sorry for your loss though!

I just use a cable and one (not very good) Krypto. I've been using the Krypto on the back wheel and frame and using the cable to secure (sort of) the front wheel and my helmet. (My rear wheel was about  half the cost of my bike) The cable could be easily cut, but I'm guessing that a large percentage of those kinds of thefts are crimes of opportunity and that any kind of deterrent is enough most of the time.

that is awesome. a buddy of mine is lending me his wheel while I search out a replacement so for now I'm back on the road.

I do the same but I also wear a large kryptonite lock on my waste too
